Flakus Sound Garden
Music to our ears! WLPS honored longtime music teacher, Mrs. Jerry Ruth Flakus, with a surprise dedication of the outdoor classroom “Sound Garden”. Mrs. Flakus has been a master at helping children bloom and grow at WLPS for over 30 years. (May 2021)
Little Free Library
This Little Free Library was handcrafted by the Sikes family and dedicated to our director, Mrs. Garrett, in honor of her dedication to encouraging the love of reading in children. After the Leaving Ceremony, the Fours and their families presented Mrs. Garrett with beautiful, new books to fill the library. Registered with the national organization, our library has its own charter number and corresponding “pin” on the worldwide map. We encourage all our families to “take a book, leave a book”. Grandparents & Special Friends Day
Our Fours hosted their loved ones with song and dance, a tour of the school and their art projects, and a special snack. Dr. Kay read from a favorite book “The Whales’ Song” and displayed some artifacts from the ocean near her home. (April 2018)
